The plates of this armor could be very diverse: by square, semicircular, wide rectangular, narrow oblong, by thickness from 0.5 to 2 mm. on the plates were done several small holes, through which the plates by threads or with belts were fastened to the leather or cloth basis. Not it was on the more ancient armors of basis, plates were connected only with each other, and armor was slipped over thick quilted jacket or hauberk. All plates were convex and were moved by one to another, which strengthened the shielding properties of armor. Armors of this system - "belt fastening" - existed in Russia to end OF THE XV century.
