hauberk. XII-XIII century

The form of hauberk changed from the end of the XII century. Appeared hauberks with the long sleeves, the length to the elbows, with the chain armor stockings - "nagavitsami". Now hauberks began to be made not of the round, but of the flat rings. Such rings were done from the round iron wire, and then flattened with the aid of the special iron die.

The hauberk of the XIII century consisted of the flat rings of different size. The largest rings were located in the form of rectangles on the back and breast; smaller rings covered arms, sides, sleeves and hem of hauberk. The right side of podpolka of hauberk plodded from the thick, massive rings. When they buttoned hauberk, it covered left podpolok. interlaced of the thinner rings. Winch was square, cut, with the shallow cut. According to its exterior view this hauberk resembled jacket with the sleeves and the square winch. Neck and the upper part of the breast of soldier covered special annulated necklace - "barmitsa", which was connected with the helmet.

Rings, from which was done a similar hauberk, were two specific riveted, and also sechennye from the sheet of iron and prokovannye in the form of small washers with the ellipsoid section. In all to the hauberk departed about 25 thousand rings.
